We are the Cech-Rodkey family … Erin, Keegan, Gray, Prue & Desy.
We are thrilled that you have discovered our flower farm! A little bit about us…

Erin grew up in Moorestown, NJ & Keegan in Harpers Ferry, WV. We met in 1998 at West Virginia University & connected over a mutual love of nature & the outdoors. During his early years, Keegan was raised living off the land in rural, upstate Pennsylvania where he explored the woods & helped his mom tend to their vegetable garden that provided for the family, even during the winter months through canning. While raised in the suburbs of New Jersey, the polar opposite of rural life, I always had a love for digging in the dirt & my down-to-earth Midwest parents helped cultivate that dream by allowing me to start my own vegetable garden at age 12. Keegan & I both grew up in families that were big on hard work & helping others. Both were raised to appreciate the great outdoors, spending our childhoods & adult lives hiking, camping, birdwatching & foraging. The foundations that our parents provided are what brought us to where we are today.

Wherever we lived together, we always had a big garden + ultimate landscaping projects that were tackled as a team. When we relocated to Garnet Valley, PA in 2009 from Baltimore after the birth of our firstborn daughter (Gray), we took on the ultimate project: buying a 1779-circa farmhouse in dire need of an overhaul. We restored the old home room by room as a team. Which wasn’t easy with 3 kids in tow. But it was the best foundation for what was to come…

And nearly 2 years ago, after our dear neighbors, John + Irene Slawter passed away, leaving their 1880-circa farmhouse + farm sitting vacant + un-tended to, we made the decision to risk it all + become the new stewards of the property, saving it from being demolished & developed. Crazy? Absolutely. Dreamers? Most definitely. But filled with Hope? You bet. Thank you for joining us on the journey of a lifetime!

OUR VISION:
It is our hope + intention to…

* Expand our flower farm each year, covering the entire 2-acre field. We hope to be able to farm flowers 9 months out of the year for everyone to enjoy in this community.

* Restore the historic farmhouse + offer it as a weekend rental for anyone wanting to stay on a flower farm.

* Build an open-air greenhouse space for our community to enjoy flower-themed workshops + events.

* Host special events + micro weddings by an old pear tree + boulders that grace the top field with the most spectacular stretch of shade + open field, overlooking the flowers.

* Most importantly, we hope to connect with you all in the most meaningful ways: to bring joy, smiles + comfort to everyone who visits our farm or enjoys our blooms. Here’s to hope. And a dream.
